EMVO/VVO Class Badges
Like explained on the previous page all student classes of the Dutch Air Force (KLu) has its own class-badge. These badges always refer to certain topics and characteristics of the specific class. The badges display the course type, year and class number and a catchy nickname.
Course types:
- EMVO = Elementaire Militaire Vlieger Opleiding (Basic Pilot Training)
- VVO = Voortgezette Vlieger Opleiding (Advanced Pilot Training) Normally helicopter EMVO follow up pilot course
- SVTO = Synthetische Vlieger Training Opleiding (Simulator Instructor Course)
- BVO = Basis Vlieger Opleiding (Basic Pilot Training) In the past a course between EMVO and VVO
- MVB = Marine Vlieger (Navy Pilot Training) Nowadays Navy pilots are integrated into the EMVO class
- VIO = Vlieger Instructeur Opleiding (Pilot Instructor Course)
Year and class reference: 1601 = 2016 class 1, 9805 = 1998 class 5, 0002 = 2000 class 2, etc.

2023 / 2024
Some of the scheduled 2023 classes were delayed into 2024
'All Bets are Off' referring to Las Vegas gambling - in connection with the aircraft type the students are sellected for
'Masters of the Air' refers to the 2024 World War 2 series involving B17 bombercrews over Europe. Miss Sweeney as pin up girl
2022 / 2023
Some of the scheduled 2022 classes were delayed well into 2023 (classes 2204 - 2206)

'Holiday?' was disapproved and later crossed out

Class during the Ukrain-Russia war - referring to the the Ghost of Kyiv

'An Offer you can't Refuse' : Referring to the Godfather movie

'EMVO Gives You Wings' - Red Bull drink logo


2021

Class consisted also of Navy students - this class was during the Covid-19 era (hence Pandemic)

Referring to strippers... and F1 Max Verstappen this year?


First class with MQ9 destined students

Referring to the James Bond movie 'No Time To Die' (2021)

2020

Class was divided over 2019 and 2020

The course was changed so they had less second chances

Pilot is drinking a 'Corona' - 'Zoom' refers to Bergen op Zoom (town near the airbase)

Referring to the PC7 131sq area in the Northern part of the airbase

5 ('V') students, referring to 'V for Vendetta' (hence 'Vengeful...')

Class was divided: some trained in Belgium (SF260)
2017

The original badge was disapproved

VVO solely for helicopter destined students; this badge shows the common rivalry between fighter and helo pilots
