2014 Grave Commemorations

During the 70 years Market Garden events Grave was a special place. My hometown!

First of all a large vehicle parade went through the city centre. At the other side of the bridge they had a basecamp. The C47’s of the day before at Overasselt also performed RCPT paratrooper droppings on this day at Grave – this time at the Grave side of the bridge were lt. John S. Thompson landed with his team. Besides that the 82 nd Airborne Division made an assault with 5 UH60 Blackhawk helicopters and ground assault teams. And in between a Spitfire and B25 Mitchel, both in Dutch World War 2 colors, were performing fly-by's.
