19th century Beercaps / Bierdopjes

One of the strange finds during metal detecting trips were many 'champagne'-like aluminum cork covers.

When examined more closely these appear to be very early (19th century) beer cork caps of Dutch beer brands - before the metal beer cap was invented.

Left: '3 Hoefijzers'; Right: 'Dommelsch 12'

The brands which i found around Breda:

-'DB Dommelen' - nowadays Dommelsch Bier                                                       -'3 Hoefijzers' - (3 Horseshoes) Beer brand from Breda - established in 1538
-'Amstel' - Amstel Bier with the early symbol of the Bavarian Beer Brewery              -'Dommelsch 12' - Dommelsch Bier (also with number '76')                                  -'HBM' - Heineken's Bierbrouwerij Maatschappij
